On NBC there is a comedy television show called “My Name is Earl.” It is based on Karma in a comical way. It reminded me of what I learned in Sunday school about the Golden Rule, “Do unto to others as you would have them do unto you.” Wondering if the Golden Rule had anything to do with Karma, I looked it up in the dictionary and found that in the Hinduism and Buddhism beliefs, the word Karma means the total effect of a person’s actions and conduct during successive phases of his existence. Another way to look at Karma, it stands for cause and effect. What goes around comes around and if you live by the Golden Rule, you should have good Karma.

 Is There More To Life Than What We Know?

The Shaman

There was an elder who lived alone in the mountains many miles from a settlement and away  from his tribe, because he refused to live on a reservation. When in need of supplies, he would travel down the mountainside to the settlement.
The town’s people thought the elder was crazy and senile and others would make fun of him. He was treated with prejudice and unkindness. The elder would appear to have conversations with himself, as if someone were there. At times, he would laugh out loud for no reason and when he brought his furs for trade, he would ask the imaginary person if the trades were fair.

Not everyone thought him to be crazy. So it eventually came the day that while traveling back to his home in the mountains, a fellow tribesman came to him.  He treated the elder with great respect, as if he were chief. He begged the elder to return to the reservation for he was needed spiritually. The elder agreed to return.  When he arrived, the people cheered and presented him with gifts. The chief of the tribe welcomed him with honors and invited him to share the fire circle.

You see, his people knew that the elder was a shaman, a spiritual leader: the one who talks to the Great Spirit.  As the tribal council sat around the fire, the chief asked, what lessons have our spiritual brothers brought to us? The shaman closed his eyes and invited the spiritual brothers to join their circle to teach a lesson. They brought this lesson that I now share with you:

"We are Spiritual Brothers who reside with the Great Spirit and coexist side by side with the earth. There is a veil that separates our world from yours. The shaman has the gift to see beyond your world into other coexisting worlds. We are master and teachers of the Great Power of the Universe. Most of the people of the earth have forgotten where they came from and have forgotten about the Great Power of the universe. This is why so many are blinded to enlightenment, for they do not understand. When you are enlightened to the Great Power, you then own the Universe.”

Carole covered a broad range of metaphysical events and exercises in her class. That first night was about reading auras.  The word aura means “atmosphere of multi-colored light” called "areola".  The human aura is a multi-layered energy field that is primarily generated by the spiritual chakra energy centers within our body. The word “chakra” means wheel. Each chakra is  a spinning vortex of energy that is located throughout our body. The aura reflects moods, personality traits, emotions, general well-being, spiritual abilities and evolution. It is made up of several layers, or bodies, reflecting and relating to the seven major chakras and is an important aspect of our spiritual and material life.

Everything in the Universe is a vibration. Every atom, every part of an atom, every electron, every elementary “particle”, even our thoughts and consciousness are vibrations. The human aura is the energy field that surrounds the physical body. It surrounds you in all directions and is three-dimensional. In a healthy individual, it makes an elliptical, or egg shape, about the body. The ancient masters could extend their aura outward from the body for several miles. That is why they could draw such large numbers of followers in any area they traveled. The following list summarizes the meanings of various colors and shapes in the aura.

We practiced viewing auras.  Carole had someone stand against a white wall as a bright light was reflecting off the wall. She then instructed us to look around the person's head and to shift our eyes so that the subject was slightly out of focus, which would allow us to see an aura. When it was my turn, I squinted my eyes until the person was out of focus. I felt really dumb trying to see something that was not there.

Then suddenly I could see it - I saw her aura all around her head! “I can see a small halo of yellow!” I exclaimed. “That is great! Joe saw an aura,” Carole announced. I felt good until the next person tried. She didn't even have to squint her eyes; she saw it right away, stretching upwards towards the ceiling as she described the red, yellow and a lot of green colors surrounding the person’s body. My ego was shot - my small halo of yellow was nothing compared to what she had seen!

Is There More To Life Than What We Know?

When the Creator created the earth, the plan was to have Earth resemble the universe. The lessons to be learned by the people of the earth were of peace, love and harmony among themselves. God intended for the earth to have diversification of heritages, cultures, and beliefs. God’s lesson in life for humans was to learn to live in harmony with one another, looking beyond any differences. If the blending of the inhabitants worked, Earth would be ready to join the rest of the universe in having peace and harmony.

Information from beings of other worlds has been channeled to your planet since humanity has inhabited the earth. Also, beings have been traveling to other worlds throughout the universe since time began. Not all beings from other worlds are so different from you. The fiber of your being is similar to those that resided on the earth thousands of years in your past time. Your brothers reside as a higher vibration than earth. They are from parts of the universe you are not aware of. These humans we speak of are your ancestors. You are created in the same mold as God created them. The difference is that they are made up of a higher vibration than you are, and they are connected directly to the Universal Life Force, which is God.

In their existence there is no doubt; there is only truth in how they live their life. From their seed came the blueprint of the human race of today; this is the missing link, you might say. In the New Age, earth’s vibration will once more be in harmony with your ancestors. This is the time when you will unite with your forefathers and will be able to communicate with them one to one. They will help to reshape the earth and its beings. They will educate you about other beings who reside in the universe. When visited by others who mirror the human race, you will feel less threatened, and in time, they will introduce you to a new race of beings that were created by God.

Since I had played the drums in high school, I borrowed a fellow warrior’s drum and joined in.  As I watched the fire, the smoke began to take on a shape like a small tornado spinning up and down. All the warriors looked on, smiling at what was happening. The smoke kept spiraling for hours. I was told that our prayers were being carried to the heavens. I sat back and watched the small tornadoes of smoke rise to the heavens meditating on the Native American warriors in history.

As the drums of my fellow warriors pounded away, I thought back to when I was a child and the vision of the Native American would appear to me. I believe that the Native American I saw then was Sparrow Hawk. I closed my eyes and imagined that I was being taken back in time to witness this spiritual gathering.

As the smoke poured upwards, turning the night sky amber, and the heat from the fire became more intense, the vision of Sparrow Hawk returned to me, along with visions of his fellow warriors. I could see Sparrow Hawk wearing a multi-colored headdress of feathers that flowed with the wind. In his hand he carried what was known as a prayer stick, which is a wooden stick wrapped with animal hides and a fox skull at the very top. Sparrow Hawk led his fellow warriors into a circle around the sacred fire. As they circled the fire, they called out the words, "Mitakuye Oyasin,” which means, “We are all related.”  The women of the tribe joined in the circle and repeated the words.

I was so taken with this vision that I found myself also chanting the words “Mitakuye Oyasin”.  It all seemed very real. As I danced around the sacred circle, I felt the heat of the fire and the beating of the drums shuddering through my body. Sparrow Hawk jumped up on a pile of boulders surrounding the fire, raised his right arm towards the heavens as he held the prayer stick high, and called out the word, “Wakantanka,” (Great Spirit) “Please answer our prayers - Aho!” (Amen). I opened my eyes and reflected on the vision I had just experienced. Had I just been taken back in time to witness the ceremony of the Sacred Fire Circle?
