Carole covered a broad range of metaphysical events and exercises in her class. That first night was about reading auras.  The word aura means “atmosphere of multi-colored light” called "areola".  The human aura is a multi-layered energy field that is primarily generated by the spiritual chakra energy centers within our body. The word “chakra” means wheel. Each chakra is  a spinning vortex of energy that is located throughout our body. The aura reflects moods, personality traits, emotions, general well-being, spiritual abilities and evolution. It is made up of several layers, or bodies, reflecting and relating to the seven major chakras and is an important aspect of our spiritual and material life.

Everything in the Universe is a vibration. Every atom, every part of an atom, every electron, every elementary “particle”, even our thoughts and consciousness are vibrations. The human aura is the energy field that surrounds the physical body. It surrounds you in all directions and is three-dimensional. In a healthy individual, it makes an elliptical, or egg shape, about the body. The ancient masters could extend their aura outward from the body for several miles. That is why they could draw such large numbers of followers in any area they traveled. The following list summarizes the meanings of various colors and shapes in the aura.

We practiced viewing auras.  Carole had someone stand against a white wall as a bright light was reflecting off the wall. She then instructed us to look around the person's head and to shift our eyes so that the subject was slightly out of focus, which would allow us to see an aura. When it was my turn, I squinted my eyes until the person was out of focus. I felt really dumb trying to see something that was not there.

Then suddenly I could see it - I saw her aura all around her head! “I can see a small halo of yellow!” I exclaimed. “That is great! Joe saw an aura,” Carole announced. I felt good until the next person tried. She didn't even have to squint her eyes; she saw it right away, stretching upwards towards the ceiling as she described the red, yellow and a lot of green colors surrounding the person’s body. My ego was shot - my small halo of yellow was nothing compared to what she had seen!
